Video Production
Here are a myriad of different films and videos I have shot and/or edited over the years. Most of my recent public work has been in videography, but my older work shows my deeper passion for making films.
Videography & Editing Work:
Here are a few videos I have put together during my time as a videographer. I find that with videography, you’re mostly just shooting from the hip. There are a lot of things you’ll just be unprepared for, and many problems will be solved in the edit.
Derek & Ella’s Wedding Video:
Below is a wedding video that showcases my talents as a problem solver. I faced numerous challenges during filming and in editing, including messy audio, low lighting conditions, background distractions, etc. It’s a reminder that you can be incredibly prepared on the day of filming, but things can still go wrong. It’s how you respond to the situation that matters.
Mountain View Montessori’s Video:
I made this second video for a local charter school and had the opportunity to present it to the Victor Elementary School District. This video was made to showcase the goals of a Montessori school. I also volunteer to film their annual winter performances.
Roofing & Solar Install Videos:
Feature Films:
Here is a collection of various feature films I have worked on, ranging from dramas to comedies.
Hyde:
Hyde was a film that I shot, edited, and assistant-directed in High School. It was my first time trying to put something big together using amateur equipment, during tight schedules, with no budget. Beforehand, I had only made silly short videos, and this was a big opportunity that taught me so much along the way. Some of the key things I learned were how to organize a production, translate a script to screen, problem-solve on set, and how to composite visuals & effects that serve the story. It is not without flaws, but it was a great high school project.
Sprout:
Sprout was our second High School endeavour. It was much more organized and was a lot of fun to film. I was the Director of Photography on this film, helping out with some minor editing & VFX work. I also made the poster for the film. While it’s nothing special, you can find it in the Graphic Design portfolio.
Short Films & Skits:
The Money Shredder:
Made for Option One to convince homeowners that they’re throwing money away by sticking with the electric company.
The Best Seat In The House:
Improvised comedic fight scene filmed and edited by me.
Believe:
A Christmas-themed choreographed fight skit. I was brought on last minute as the cinematographer on this project.
Motion Graphics:
Batman Noir Title Card:
Batman Noir is a project still currently in production. I filmed it and worked on VFX, including this title card. My inspiration for the ‘ENIGMA’ was hostage ransom notes, where magazine letters would be used instead of handwriting.
Cool For Cats – Typographic Music Video:
This was a project I created in high school for fun. It was the first time I had merged different assets together to music. My goal for the next video was to create all of my assets.
Board By Board – Typographic Music Video:
I made this typographic video concept for the band Losers of the Year. I created all of the assets in the video and tried to give it an oil pastel aesthetic.
